Bill Hale edits the AM Switch column in DX News and is a member of the NRC's Board of Directors. He has also been an editor of both DDXD-West and Graveyard DX Achievements, and has been DXing since the late 1950's.
"I had no idea that others shared the same interest until 1976 when I saw the NRC mentioned in an electronics magazine article. Have been a member since", Bill says.
As a member of the US Air Force for 22 years, and my ensuing jobs with companies associated with the flight simulation industry, I've had the opportunity to DX from several locations: Illinois (twice), Idaho (two locations), Florida, Great Britain, Texas (three locations), California and New Mexico, as well as my native Wisconsin.
Moving has afforded me the opportunity to edit DDXD-East, DDXD-West, and for periods of time DDXD-Central (I believe it was called), and just plain DDXD. I also edit the Station Location Mapbook, published about every two years.
My interest in the radio industry extends to behind the microphone, working at stations in Idaho, Florida, Illinois, and Texas in positions ranging from DJ, music and news directors and as everyone who has worked in small-markets can attest . . . "You name it, I did it".
Current receivers are the trusty ICF-2010 and newer DX-398. Still usable, but in mothballs, is a Radio Shack TRF (circa 1976). You can reach Bill at 6124 Roaring Springs Drive, North Richland Hills TX 76180-5552.
