Frederick Vobbe has won numerous awards in broadcasting, electronics engineering, and civic organizations. By day he works at WLIO, and WLIO-DT
in Lima, OH. Fred is Vice President and Chief Operator the NBC and CW Network television affiliates in Lima, Ohio. Additionally, Fred is a voice-actor for commercials, radio station  voice-tracking, corporate presentations, on-hold recordings, and voice-mail for business and private parties. You can hear Fred on Amateur Radio Newsline, heard weekly on many amateur repeaters, as well as on radio and TV commercials.

Fred also performs a lot of volunteer work in his community. He is a Communications Officer for the Allen County Department of Homeland Security,
co-chairman of the Lima-Allen County E.A.S. District, and is past chairman of the board of the Ohio Area Repeater Council. In his nearly 40 year radio career he has enjoyed working with 12-tower at  50,000 watts directional AM antenna arrays, high-power shortwave transmission systems, and more recently VHF/UHF transmission antennas.Fred's main interest is in antenna design, and he has built thousands of different systems for commercial and private interest. Fred is a member of the National Radio Club, a non-profit radio club devoted to the medium wave DX hobby. Fred has served as Publisher for the "DX Audio Service", a monthly magazine on tape for blind radio enthusiasts, since April 1985. Fred started the magazine on April 1985. Fred volunteers on numerous civic projects, and has been a finalist for the City of Lima Neighborhood Award numerous times, as well as nominated several times for the national Jefferson Award. He is also a member of Elks #54, FOP/FOPA, Eagles #370, and has served in the Lima Host Lions Club as President, VP, and board of directors. He is a holder of the Melvin Jones Award, one of Lions Club top honors. Along with ham radio and antenna work, Fred also likes collecting oldies music from the years 1955 to 1990, and restoring old recordings of radio jingles, airchecks, and production.
